Fourty-four no more. Hello District 23!

District 44 comes to an end 3 weeks from today. But the clubs will move forward as members of District 23 (covering New Mexico and El Paso and, starting July 1, West Texas and Texas County Oklahoma).

I'm also pretty excited. I'm going to be the Division F Governor. Division F covers the southern half of West Texas (Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, Ft. Stockton, Crane) and the south east corner of New Mexico (Rowsell, Portales, Alamogordo, Clovis and Carlsbad).

This past Saturday, I went to Moriarty, NM, along with two Area Governors, the new District Public Relations Officer and the Assistant Division F Governor (Gayle, I cannot say thank you enough for agreeing to that job!) for the District Officer Training meeting.

Saturday was a long but fun day. We left Lubbock at 6am and got back home at 10:30pm the same day. We met a lot of great people and I look forward to working with them in the coming year.

To the right is a photo of the sign at the El Comedor de Anayas Restaurant in Moriarty where we met. It turns out this sign is listed as one of the "Legends of America" along Route 66. Click here for more info.

And the podcast will be back soon.

Welcome to 'A Side of Toast'

I like my life with a side order of toast. Toastmasters, that is. For the past three years, I've been a member of Toastmasters here in West Texas. So far I've achieved the Advanced Communicator Bronze award and I'm just two speeches away from the AC Silver. I've held every club office at least once and I was an Area Governor in 2006-2007.

Last November I volunteered to take the chairman role for the upcoming District 44 Spring Conference. It's here in Lubbock on May 3, 2008. This blog, along with the videos and podcasts which are in production, is a tool to promote the conference and keep the district's members up to date with news and information about the conference.
